Years of conflict, displacement and climate shocks have left communities across South Sudan carrying needs that outlast any single emergency response. Our founders had delivered those responses from inside international organisations and had seen both their value and their limits: short cycles, external design, and knowledge that left with the project.
CARi was founded to keep that knowledge in the country. As a national organisation we can plan across years rather than quarters, recruit and retain South Sudanese expertise, and remain present in communities between funding cycles.
Local leadership is not a slogan for us; it is an operating model. Our senior team, programme managers and field staff are South Sudanese. Community committees hold formal roles in design and review. Suppliers and service providers are sourced nationally wherever quality and compliance allow.
That model is paired with the governance a serious partner expects: independent oversight, safeguarding systems, audited finances and evidence-based reporting.
